Ellie has always been different, from playing with fairies as a child to fighting demons as an adult. She grew up wondering why no one else seemed to notice the oddities of the world that she came into contact with on a daily basis. When she is the only witness of a demon attack and the police suspect her, Ellie skips the country heading to England where she plans to keep a low profile. Everything is going fine, until Devon appears, stumbling around her garden like a drunken fool, and completely naked no less.

Six months ago Devon sacrificed himself to bind the soul of a demon and save the world from certain destruction. Thanks to a spell gone awry, Devon is back. But Devon hasn’t come alone. The very demon he tried to destroy has returned and is wreaking havoc on earth. When Devon meets Ellie, he instantly recognizes another supernatural being. Ellie may just be the only person who is strong enough to destroy the demon, if the demon doesn’t destroy her first.

Previous books in the Hunter Series include

The Ghost Hunter (Book 1)
The Demon Hunter (Book 2)

The Demon Hunter The Hunter Series Book 2 edition by Lori Brighton Paranormal Romance eBooks

In one sense I liked Demon Hunter better than The Ghost Hunter (The Hunter Series). I think the writing was better. Not that it was bad in the first one, but I liked it more here. I also liked the juxtaposition of Devon's Victorian upbringing with his strong warrior nature. But it was his broken, puppy dog moments that made me love him. Ellie's amazing backbone was a joy. I much prefer a strong heroine to a wimpy one. Plus, the occasion in which she took on more traditionally male romance characteristics (like thinking of Devon as hers) made me smile. I like it when authors play with genre tropes.

What I didn't like was the constant and often misplaced descriptions of Devon's amorousness. Well-nigh half the book was dedicated to explaining how enamoured he was with Ellie. We get it already. It detracted from the rest of the plot and often slowed the action down. I had hoped that if there is to be a third book it would be based on Kipps....I really liked him.

Anyhow, I don't feel like my time was waisted, but I'm little relieved that there isn't another one yet. I liked them enough to read it if there was, but am also not disappointed to be moving on.

The Demon Hunter The Hunter Series Book 2 edition by Lori Brighton Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

I also bought this after reading Ghote Hunter. While I loved that book, I thought it ended quite abruptly and found it to be a bit anticlimactic and disappointing. However, after reading the first few pages of this book I realized it was a great way to delve into this book! This was wonderfully exciting and frustrating at the same time. I found myself wanting to hit Devon along with Ellie. And shake Ellie just like Devon wanted to! Lori has a way of drawing in the reader so that he or she is just as wrapped up with the drama and romance as the characters themselves are. I know these are two stories I'll definitely be rereading while waiting for the next installment! Again, Madam Brighton, bravo!
First off make sure that you do go and read the first book before you read this one, I can not believe all the things that happens in this book I was on edge the whole time that I read it. I don't want to give way too much of the book, but with all the super natural beings in it I could not seem to put this book down. We learn more about the characters from the last book as well as meeting a few new ones I am telling you don't take my word for it read it for yourself and you will be surprised by the ending.
For those who like fantasy these books are a must. I gave it a rating of three because I do not care for angels being the main characters. The needed reason for the super human abilities to me should have been thought out with more of a unique choice, then the easy pick of angels. I would not suggest this book to anyone younger then twenty. There is sex and language involved that brings down the quality of reading so that it could not be suggested for someone younger.
This book doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as it could. The author could have gone in a very serious and epic-like adventure with this series, but she didn't. And I don't really mind the direction, to be honest. Instead of a long epic, this book and it's predecessor kind of strike me as small quests with romance peppered in. I enjoyed them both. They are nice fantasy themed books without the deep investment of other epic series. I've read where the author has decided to not write a third because of bad reviews, but I would read another if it was ever written.
Linda here and not Carlisle. OK now for my review. I read two of these books. I really like her writing and the premise of the stories. Very interesting with a fair amount of corners to take with the plots. Now I must say I find endless pages of descriptions of people having sex and their hot bodies and erect nipples etc a bit much. OK, fine, they are getting it on and that's nice but can we get on with the plot for g-d's sake? One sex scene was supposed to be taking place in a closet while people are looking for them. Good grief. Another moment when I did a bunch of page skimming. With that said, I thought having a lesbian couple was a good idea and showed an open mind. But, after making the hetero couples have such hot intense relationships both physically and emotionally dynamic, the way she depicted the two women who fell in love was treated like, "oh, isn't that cute she has a girlfriend." Um - kind of demeaning.
Like the previous book in this series, I absolutely loved The Demon Hunter. It opens up a world so unique, I was devastated when I learned the author wouldn't write another one. This story needs more! The characters are so interesting and likeable and they deserve to live up to their full potential. I beg the author to continue this world!
This is the second book in the Hunter Series and it was just as good as the first. The only problem I have with Lori's books is that I cannot put them down. It is hard to have a clean house and a job when I am reading one of her books. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get into Devon and Ellie as much as Cristian and Ashley from the first novel, but that was not the case at all. Plus, Lori pulls in both Ashley and Cristian into the second book, so we continue to see their story as well.

I love the excitement, drama and special love that her characters feel. I love the paranormal or supernatural beings and learning their powers and mystery. There is even a little bit of diversity in this book! Lori has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are in the book watching everything unfold right in front of you.

I hope there will be another book in this series. I would love to see what else an empathy and a couple of angels can do!
